Crowns
A crown is a dental restoration which completely covers or encircles a tooth or dental implant. This is suggested treatment when the original tooth is fractured or contains decay that might threaten the ongoing health of the tooth. Crowns can also be used to improve the strength or appearance of teeth. Crowns are most commonly made of porcelain which gives the restored tooth a natural appearance.

The steps in the process of crown treatment are as follows:

  • Removing decay in or around the tooth.
  • Preparing tooth by removing its outer portion to accommodate the thickness of the crown.
  • Taking an impression of the tooth to provide an exact model of the prepared tooth and assist in fabricating the crown.
  • A temporary crown will be placed at the initial appointment to protect the tooth until the permanent crown can be inserted at the second appointment.
  • After ensuring that the fabricated crown has the correct color, appearance and fit, it will be secured in place with a bonding agent.

A certain percentage of crown treatment will be suitable for the using the Cerec computer assisted design technology. With this technology we are able to design the restoration from an optical impression and have your new crown completed in only one appointment! The integrity of the Cerec crown is comparable to that of a traditional crown.

Dental Implants
Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth.

Implants may be used in many different situations:

  • To replace a single tooth
  • To replace a group of teeth
  • To support an implant bridge
  • To anchor an entire arch of teeth (denture)

At Dental Associates of Baraboo, our goal is to help the patient who has lost teeth regain the ability to eat their favorite foods and to once again smile with confidence.
